I've been testing some more basic stuff, like adding enemies and allowing different character variations. I'm setting it up so that later I'll be able to focus on level design and other things that'll make the game enjoyable. Maybe I'll let my wife do level design since she is an artist herself.
Point being, the 3D models (and other artwork) can be changed quite easily. It's just hard to have everything come together under one theme to create a story, which is why I'm still experimenting with some basic mechanics while trying to stay flexible. The general direction is super mario with crazier moves and combos and modern graphics. While I like things to be modular, I won't stray too far from the initial idea.
Maybe for the next video, I'll have character death and particle effects (right now it's just a blank attack animation that doesn't affect anything). I have a long way to go, but eventually this should look more and more like an actual game 😃
Thanks for watching.
