We've been in Guadalajara for just a few days now, so we're taking the opportunity to capture our first impressions before we get too acclimated to the city. Compared to other places we've traveled in Mexico, there are striking similarities to large cities in the US. Therefore, we don't think it will be long before it feels like a "normal" place and culture.
In this video, we compare Guadalajara and the US, including the:
- Culture;
- Cost of living in Guadalajara;
- Overall wealth of the city;
- Safety of Mexico in this city; and
- What the people are like here.
As with most places, Guadalajara wasn't at all like either of us had pictured in our mind's eye. It feels pretty strange to be in a place that so strongly resembles many aspects of the US. And compared to other cities in Mexico, the restaurants and buildings are much newer. That part isn't too surprising considering there's construction going on all over the city.
