Hey there, it's . You might have seen
and I post on the regular about how we are seeking delegations for
. But we don't spend a whole lot of time explaining how we use our delegations to help our content creators. This post is less fun happy stuff about streaming and more transparency report.
If you've ever streamed on Vimm, you probably saw a few upvotes coming your way from us. First and foremost, our delegated Steem Power is used to provide value to the content creators that broadcast to our site. Given the way that our content creators provide value to Vimm, we seek to bring value to their content. Upvotes are the primary method. We utilize three important criteria when upvoting a streamer:
-Are they Interactive? Does the streamer talk to his chat? Vimm community members will usually pop into the streamer's chat and try to start some conversation if there isn't already conversation happening. This element is pretty flexible, depending on the type of broadcast. Vimm Community Curators are given discretion to check this box based on whether or not they feel the broadcaster is interacting with their audience at large.
-Is the Vimm logo on display on the stream? This one is self explanatory. We provide graphics and imagery on the Vimm Discord for our streamers to implement into their stream overlay. We also have a viewer count widget in the "Go Live" dashboard, which also qualifies.
-Did the streamer announce their broadcast on Twitter? This one requires the most effort from our Community Curators, as they have to find the streamer's Twitter profile and then check the timeline. Streamers that do announce on Twitter will see benefits from doing so, however.
Streamers that meet all three criteria will see the largest rewards paid out. We try to encourage our streamers to remember these criteria as often as possible.
One of the ways Vimm thanks our delegators is by paying them in Steem gleaned from curation rewards. Vimm regularly powers down to pay our delegators. Anyone who delegates 100 SP or more is entitled to a portion of the rewards. The steem is paid out based on the amount of steem delegated. i.e. if there is 1000SP delegated to Vimm and one person delegates 100 SP, that person receives 10% of the powered down rewards. If they delegate 750 SP, their payout is 75% of the powered down rewards. Payments are made monthly, usually handles the bookkeeping for that.
Vimm supports itself through beneficiary rewards. All users who stream on Vimm give 12% of their post rewards to Vimm to support the cost of our servers and upkeep. At one point, Vimm allowed users to increase their beneficiary reward, and quite a few users took advantage of that. Currently, has his beneficiary reward set to 20% because he is incredibly generous, though this is not the norm.
This beneficiary reward is sold to cover the costs of servers. Additional Steem Power from beneficiary rewards will also be powered down and sold when needed. A larger SP pool would provide Vimm with a larger reward amount to reinvest into infrastructure and growth of the platform. To that end, this post is also a call to action.
If you can delegate Steem Power to , please consider doing so. Every little bit helps, and every little bit brings us a little bit more funds for infrastructure upgrades and other enhancements.
