I have the instincts of a magpie and I can't resist old metal objects. I found it in an old store-room on the roof of a building that I lived in in the city centre.
First patented in 1912, this particular make of Ever-Ready safety razor probably dates back to the 1940's or thereabouts, I couldn't find an exact date for this particular style online. I'm not so sure I would be keen to use this for its intended purpose and I don't think that blades are still available. Some safety razors can take normal 2-sided blades but this one was made to take a single edged blade that could be sharpened with a leather strop in the same way that cut-throat razors are sharpened.
This razor looks a whole lot more dangerous than modern disposable razors but perhaps it was a safer alternative to cut-throat razors.
