Violence has left about 16 women murdered so far this year 2019 in the Metropolitan Area of Caracas. Most of them were killed with firearms, according to newspaper reports.
According to the cases that have been reported, five were femicides, one per line of fire, two for revenge, two undetermined, five during a robbery and one in the midst of protests, according to the website El Cooperante.
One of these victims, who recently became known, was a Cicpc official identified as Elizabeth Ramírez, who was murdered in the La Amargura sector in El Silencio.
Ramírez was arriving at her residence, accompanied by another official, when they were caught by four armed men, who were moving in a Honda vehicle, Civic model, silver color, those involved subjected them under threat of death and gave them several shots.
Detective Ramírez was injured during the incident and was taken to the Military Hospital, where she was admitted without vital signs.
It is known that by January 2018 there were 11 women murdered in Greater Caracas and in 2017 there were 17 women victims during acts of violence.
