Perhaps Min Min Aung Hlaing is currently the most powerful figure in Myanmar. The military commander was mentioned by human rights organizations as the biggest obstacle to Myanmar's democratization process and the enforcement of Human Rights in Rakhine.

When Aung San Suu Kyi canceled her trip to Indonesia in November 2016 due to concerns about protests, Hlaing was greeted with a red carpet in Brussels, Belgium, to attend a meeting of the European Military Council.
Though he is the mastermind behind the wave of violence that rolled in some states, including in Rakhine.
Born and raised in Tenasserim, near the Thai border, Hlaing enjoys law education in Yangon before dedicating to the military. The tacit figure was newly known after successfully quell the rebellion of Myanmar Nationalities Democratic Alliance Army in Kokang, 2009 ago. As a result of the fighting, about 37,000 civilians fled to China.
