The beautiful Philippine archipelago consists of numerous islands In the western Pacific ocean in southeast Asia. On Sunday Jan 12 at around 5:30p Taal Volcano located on Luzon Island began to erupt. This is the volcano's first eruption in over forty years. All residents (30,000 people) in a nine-mile radius were ordered to evacuate. In the following days of the eruption volcanic activity eased and so far no fatalities were reported.
