This review meticulously assesses seven distinct grill spatulas, which range in price from $8.50 to $37, through involving them in several practical cooking scenarios. These included grilling numerous burgers, salmon filets, and pizzas, dropping the spatulas onto the pavement from grill height, and using them to hoist bags of flour simulating cooking a heavy roast. Unfortunately, many spatulas underperformed due to being either excessively flimsy or too rigid, too wide or narrow, or because they damaged the food during handling. However, the Char-Broil Comfort Grip Spatula, priced at around $26, stood out as the superior choice.
The Char-Broil Comfort Grip Spatula exhibited the ideal balance of finesse and resilience. Its slim and narrow design made maneuvering between closely-packed burgers effortless, while its thin edge enabled gentle handling of delicate salmon cuts. It also proved capable of supporting a floppy grilled pizza due to its sensible width and could withstand the weight of heavy roasts. In addition to its commendable performance, the spatula was found to have a balanced and sturdy feel that was not overly heavy. The handle did not become slippery, an important feature during grilling, and the spatula was easily cleaned in the dishwasher.
