Mountain Hardwear mens Stretch Ozonic Jacket
By: Jon Conti
The first down jacket compared in the video is the REI Co-op 650 2.0, a good option for casual hikers that retails at $100. Although it doesn't offer the best fit and can leak a little, it's made from recycled nylon and holds up well in light rain. The second jacket is the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer 2, the lightest of the three at just eight ounces. Despite feeling fragile, it offers a high warmth-to-weight ratio with 800 fill down. However, it is the most expensive, ranging from $140 to $300.
The third and the reviewer's favorite down jacket is Patagonia's Nano Puff jacket, which is actually a synthetic, primo loft down option. It comes at a mid-range price point of $200 and despite being slightly heavier (11.9 ounces), it is the warmest and most durable of the three. It is also made of recycled materials and never leaks. The video concludes that these three jackets cater to different price points providing a wide range of options for hikers.
