In this video, Joe and Kait from the Russos share an extensive review of the Thetford cassette toilet system they have been using in their camper van for over a year. They demonstrate its easy setup and function, explaining that it is essentially a permanent toilet with a portable black tank, which makes the disposal process more convenient than using a traditional black tank found in RVs. The key features include rotating toilet bowl, a valve handle for managing waste, a flush button connected to the freshwater tank, and a red light indicator for full waste tank. Additionally, they explain that the waste tank is not allowed to get completely full to ease in its portability- a feature enhanced by wheels and an extendable handle like those on suitcases.
Among their tips for using the cassette toilet system is to limit its use for urination (number one), frequent dumping regardless of whether it's full to manage odor, keeping the lid down to manage pressure buildup, cleanliness, and maintenance. Despite requiring some adjustments such as finding a place to go to the bathroom in the morning if not at a campground, the Russos find the cassette toilet system more manageable than the traditional black tank. They believe that one should adapt to the system best suited for them, but are quite satisfied with the cassette toilet system for its flexibility and convenience. #VanLife #ToiletReview #Camping #PortableToilet #ThetfordSystem.
