THE DILIGENT GARDERNER
Edward’s parents never joked with flowers and other edible plants in their garden. So, they employed a competent gardener who will be able to take good care of the garden. Mr. Felix the new gardener has been without a job for the past 7 years. He thought it wise to be more diligent than ever in his current job. ‘I must crab this opportunity before it eludes me' he said to himself when the job was given to him. One morning, Edward went to discourage him from working too hard, will he yield to Edward’s advice? Let’s find out.
Edward: (Approaches the gardener) Good morning sir.
Mr. Felix : Good morning young master.
Edward: How was your night sir?
Mr. Felix : It was fine, I hope you slept well?
Edward: (smiling) Yes sir I did.
Mr. Felix: How are your parents?
Edward: (Frowns) They are fine. Sir I came to tell you something important
Mr. Felix: Go on!
Edward: Sir don’t you think you are taking it too hard on yourself ?
Mr. Felix: How do you mean?
Edward: You resume work early before anyone wakes up in this house, and you don’t give yourself a break until you finish for the day. Sir you are growing old I think you should give yourself some rest.
Mr. Felix: Young master, I have been without a job for 7 years before now. And now that I have gotten this job, I have to maximize this opportunity by getting more diligent than ever. I am not ready to lose this job that is why I am working hard. Don’t worry about me I’m fine.
Edward: Sir I am inspired by your level of diligence, thank you for sharing this with me.
Edward felt different from that day, he developed hatred for laziness and embraced diligence.
