Grangbel Town Park in Riverhead, NY is well over 100yrs old. Constructed in late 1800's by County judge Timothy Griffing, who donated Peconic River front land. It was designed specifically for relaxation. No ball fields or play areas.
The park is right in the Town with the Peconic River the dividing line between Riverhead Township to the north and Southampton Township to the south.
It is a small well maintained park with many benches and tables.
There is a series of dams with the River emptying into Flanders Bay which is part of Great Peconic Bay. Then to the Atlantic Ocean.
After the dams a large body of fresh water is seen.
Going back and forth over bridges with small ponds and islands makes an interesting walk.
