We got out of the house today!
Apparently that's a big deal for me these days.. ha! I pondered something too, if I don't get out and do things, imagine the experiences we miss out on!
I know that's pretty obvious but the thought hit me in a very profound way.
Before moving to the big city I used to be a little bit of an outdoorsy type. Walks on the beach, fires, berry picking, out in boat, strolls in the woods etc etc...
Here's me climbing on cliffs all rugged and stuff.. LoL
In this city they have many places they call 'natural areas' which I always thought was such a joke, a natural area in the city? It's not like the sounds of traffic and smell of exhaust can actually disappear.
For years I just never bothered to go anywhere in nature, work, home, groceries, work, home, groceries. That was about it.
Now though, with kids, I've visited many different 'natural areas' and you actually CAN find some where the sounds of traffic are very faint.
We went to Jackie Parker recreational today, it's on the south east side of Edmonton. It's a huge playground with a pond and an adjacent off leash dog park.
It's a park we frequent, and today it was practically empty which was awesome for a couple of totally introverted parents but not so much for two social as hell kids! Haha
They had a great time anyway!
We saw geese, ducks, a huge bunny who was starting to turn white and a random extremely friendly escapee from the dog park.
The highlight of the trip for me was getting to see a muskrat swimming around in the pond! He was so cute!
Sorry for the terrible quality pics, a cell phone is usually my go to these days for capturing the moment! ;p
Anyway, we had a great time today getting outside and exploring the earth, even if it was in the city!
