They say “You Can't Go Home Again”, but Walpack Inn is one of the exceptions in life. Located in Northwest New Jersey of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, here you can still see the bears and deer roam freely. Come drive to this restaurant, and you will be rewarded with beautiful scenery, and relaxing ambiance dining.
I was here in 1989 with a girlfriend, and in 1991 I came with my wife expecting with our first child. In Spring 2017 I came back….thank God I can still come back home! Walpack Inn is “still” encapsulated in time capsule. As I walked in to the front door, the inviting rustic ambiance welcomed me warmly. I felt young again. The pictures cannot tell the true full story.
The food was great, so was the price. They serve many local/organic produces, and grass-fed meat. My wild rice, fresh fruit pie, and homemade bread were out of this world.
Take your time to eat. They will not rush you out. I told the friendly owner that I wish I could buy this restaurant. I wish her the best to maintain this place so others can find joy and solitude.
On my way out, I stumbled to an old timer who helped preserved this place from being flooded for New Jersey reservoir project. I hope they are still others like him who are willing to save this charming homecoming treasure, so I can still come back home.
