St. Mary Falls
I love me some waterfalls, especially waterfalls in my favorite national park, Glacier!
This one is St. Mary Falls a year after the Reynolds Creek fire burned through the area, as you can see. I was actually there shortly after the fire, they had just re-opened Going-to-the-Sun road and the trees were still smoking and all you could smell was smoke. I was really bummed that we couldn't hike in to it that year. Fortunately I went back a year later and despite all the trees being burned down, the scene was truly magical, especially the hike into the falls. There was wildflowers galore! Wildflowers that normally wouldn't be there because of the canopy of trees wouldn't allow them. They were bright colors of pink, blue, purple, and white, a stark contrast from the blackened backdrop of burnt trees.
If you ever have the chance to visit Glacier National Park, do it, and be sure to make the short hike, around a mile if I recall, to see St. Mary Falls.
