We are here near at RWASA reservoir, located at San Isidro, Macrohon, in this jungle. Our pipe lines were 3 inches in diameter. Due to the weather here, pipe line supports were dislocated. Soil erosion also adds up to this pipe being damaged.
Our finances for now are not that good. What we can do is temporary repair. We used wood for pipe support. And the fixtures were too high for our budget, so instead of good union fixtures or sleeve, we used pvc pipe, heated and rubbers to seal.
To increase the life span for this repair, a tie wire was used to wrap it around and cover again with rubber from motorcycle interior tube.
Now, how many of this kind of repair we do in this jungle? Around 20 plus or more. We do this temporary repair due to finance problem. One sleeves type coupling in 3 inches diameter will cost us $22. An union also will cost $30 for good one.
FRWASA is a non profit organization that cater waters to three barangays here in Macrohom, Southern Leyte, Philippines. Finance is one of the most hindrance we cannot afford fittings for repairs such as 3" in sizes.
We had budget for month allowance for repairs of $250, half of this will be for minor repairs, such 1/2 households piping, repairs in rural areas. This allowance is not enough to cover. For wages of personel also adds up. From our take over last August 2022, this year, we slowly recovers deficits.
