Hurricane Idalia has caused severe flooding leading to a state of emergency for GA and the storm has been described as a category 3 which has caused many people to lose power.
Hundreds of thousands of people have lost power so far in this storm and this storm could end up costing insurers billions of dollars, as we have seen in the past with storms in this region and elsewhere.
Over $9 billion in damages+
It has been estimated that this one could allegedly cost around $9 billion or more for insurers and many people are facing severe flooding or power outages in their homes. There are some businesses that have stepped up to help, a hotel chain in FL for example offering better rates for those who have been evacuated. They aren't the only ones either, other businesses have also been looking to help with reduced stay rates and more.
In times of need it is great to see businesses step up to help communities with gratitude either for crews helping assist in the emergency, or people who have been displaced etc. We always see an outpouring of help and support when instances like this happen. Some companies have even delivered generators to hurricane victims in the past.
Roads have been closed, many homes flooded, and it is expected that the damage from the storm could potentially stretch hundreds of miles along the Coast.
