It is starting to get gloomy again as seen on this photo taken just now in our garden
Hey there, fellow kababayans and kabalens,
I hope you're all staying safe and dry amidst the changing weather patterns. Today, I've got an update on Typhoon Goring, or as it's known locally, Saola. As of 12:00 PM on August 30, 2023, this powerful typhoon has taken a step back and transformed into a tropical storm.
Currently positioned about 385 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, Typhoon Goring is flexing its muscles with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour, accompanied by gusts zipping up to 80 kilometers per hour. Moving at a steady westward pace of 25 kilometers per hour, What does that mean? simply...it is less severe now :)
The experts predict that this storm will gradually lose its strength, and chances are, it'll bid farewell to the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) either tonight or tomorrow morning. But don't let your guard down just yet! Even in its diminished state, Goring has some rainy tricks up its sleeve, especially for our friends in the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga Region.
Here's the scoop on the tropical cyclone warning signals (TCWS):
- TCWS #1 (meaning strong winds are likely within the next 36 hours): Keep an eye out if you're in Catanduanes, Albay, Camarines Sur, or Sorsogon. Stay safe po lahat.
Now, onto the important stuff: how to stay safe and cozy at this time. Here are some handy tips:
Couch Time is Prime Time: stay safe indoors and away from windows and doors. It's like a mini adventure inside, minus the wet surprises.
Rain-Proof Attire: If you absolutely need to go outside, suit up in your protective gear and bring along an umbrella as your sidekick.
Battle the Breeze: Take a moment to secure any loose items that might decide to dance in the wind. We wouldn't want anyone's belongings going on an unexpected field trip.
Stay in the Know: Keep your radar tuned to the latest weather updates. It's your virtual crystal ball for the days ahead.
Play by the Rules: Listen closely to the instructions of local authorities. They're the real-life superheroes who've got your back.
For those of you who want to dive even deeper into the world of weather forecasts, feel free to explore the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) website. There's a wealth of information waiting to be discovered.
Remember, safety comes first, and a little preparedness can go a long way. Let's ride out this storm together, and before you know it, sunny skies will be back on the horizon. Until then, stay dry and keep those spirits high!
not fun with no sun
