Several years ago I bought the website https://Grade-Calculator.com as part of our latest calculator. I tried setting up a Google AdWords Ad Campaign but my ad was disapproved and I was given a Policy Violation for attempting to create ads for a suspended site. After checking with Google Webmaster Tools my site was given the manual action of Pure Spam and was taken out of Google's Search Engine index, meaning you couldn't search for my site even if you used Google's Site Search, for example typing "Site:Grade-Calculator.com" into Google.
But after researching the site https://Archive.org I realized that my site was used prior to me buying it for pure spam in the form of a Churn and Burn spam technique. This technique involves creating random text and links to help build up the Google Search Ranking of either the site with the links or to use it to give links to many random websites which are usually paid for by those random websites all in an attempt to build up their backlinks and thus obtaining a higher search ranking in Google.
Once those sites are caught by Google, they are taken out of their index and labelled as Pure Spam and the site owners usually then try to sell it from unsuspecting victims such as myself :( I unknowingly bought this site from https://GoDaddy.com but luckily I was able to get a Reconsideration Request sent to Google Webmaster Tools which was approved and the pure spam manual action taken on my website was revoked!
My site should be searchable in Google very soon and my Google AdWords Ad was finally approved! Learn more about my story by watching my video as it can help you avoid getting a policy violation from Google!!!

Domain Spam History Check: Archive.org and Google’s “site:” website search
My experience with Grade-Calculator.com:
- Several years ago I bought this domain from https://GoDaddy.com
- I tried setting up a Google AdWords advertising campaign to get it some search traffic.
- Google AdWords stated that the site was suspended and I received a policy violation.
- In my Google WebMaster Tools account my website was also considered as “Pure Spam”.
- In fact, https://Grade-Calculator.com is not even searchable on Google!
- Can use Google’s “site:” keyword to double check if a website is indexed by Google.
- For example: site:grade-calculator.com
- Can use Google’s “site:” keyword to double check if a website is indexed by Google.
- My site is NOT spam and after using Archive.org’s website history check, it is clear that https://Grade-Calculator.com had a history of Spam in a tactic called: “Churn and Burn”
- Spammers would buy a domain, build it up having random text/links so that it either ranks well in Google or sites that it links to do well.
- Once their site gets caught and suspended they try selling it for the last bit of profit to unspecting people, i.e. me :(
- I submitted a reconsideration request to Google AdWords and Webmaster Tools stating that I unkowningly bought a site with previous spam history.
- My initial request was denied and the site was still considered as Spam
- I submitted several more reconsideration requests and luckily the “manual action was revoked” against my website! :)
- Note that it took about 2 weeks before the “Pure Spam” label to be removed from the Manual Actions tab in Google Webmaster Tools.
- Once the label was gone I called Google AdWords and they finally approved my ad for https://Grade-Calculator.com!! :)
- Note that if the label doesn’t disappear in a week or two, I suggest submitting another reconsideration request.
- If your ad still says disapproved, I suggest deleting it and creating it again because that is what I did and it worked for me!
Recommendations before buying any Domain Name
- Always double check the history of a website you want to buy with Archive.org
- If the site you want has a history of spam try to avoid buying it to avoid the problems that I just mentioned.
- But if you really like the name it is extremely important to not create a Google AdWords Campaign until you have verified with Google Webmaster Tools and Google’s “site:” search that your site is not spam and is searchable on Google!
- This is to avoid having a policy violation!
- Also be patient with Google’s spam system because eventually you should be back on!
- If after several months your site is still suspended I suggest resorting to paying companies such as https://getbackongoogle.com to help you get your site unsuspended!
