I saw a patient in ICU today. Terminally Ill but still awake, alert and interactive.
He knows that his time has come.
He and his girlfriend on many years were together in the room. Patient is in his 80s.
His one request today was that he wanted to get married on his death bed.
We made many arrangements and he DID get married.
He won't be here tomorrow.
There are 2 things I want to say about this.
Perhaps this was the most important thing he could do to show his eternal love for the woman.
Secondly to al of you dumbasses out there, if you like her enough to live with her then get married rather than wait till you are almost gone.
