This is my contribution to #wednesdaywalk this week hosted by . If you have not heard about this initiative or would want to know more about it simply click on the link here and share your Wednesday walk with all the other members of our community all across the globe. Don't miss out on this.
The ongoing enhanced community quarantine of our city has made walking outside our homes a real challenge. One must be armed with a quarantine pass, a valid ID and an acceptable reason for being out on the streets to be able to walk around. With this limitation, I will again share a past walk I did with my two daughters and nephew about a few years ago. This was in a private resort owned by a friend in a place called Eden, Bayabas in the southern part of the city about an hour's drive from my home. The place is about 3,000 feet above sea level.
The picture above shows the view of Davao City from my friend's resort.
This was the Christmas season and before we proceeded to the place, we celebrated the dawn mass in the parish church of Eden, the St. Michael the Archangel Chapel. Picture below was just before the mass at 4:30 a.m. with my two daughters, both Steemit members and
.

And off we go to my friend's resort. It's a 2 hectare lot which he purchased in the early 1990's. According to him, the place when he first bought it was just all cogon grass or tall thick grass with rough edges. No vegetation or trees. After he bought the place, he and his wife slowly planted all sorts of plants and trees, landscaped the place all by themselves (they did not hire a professional landscaper) and added a little rest house overlooking the Davao Gulf. Picture below shows the owner opening the gate to the resort.
It's a 100 meter walk along the driveway towards the rest house.
As we were walking, we had a glimpse of the landscape and part of the rest house. All the trees and plants and flowers that you see were actually planted by my friend and his wife, slowly and painstakingly over a period of almost 25 years from the time that they bought the place.
The rest house. That's me pointing at something I don't remember anymore. Note the ground where steps were made to make going down easy. The steps are covered with bermuda grass.
This is the bottom of the steps fronting the rest house. The owner is inspecting the place for anything that may be needed.
Well we're here and it's time to explore the place!
Gravel pathways are all over the place lined with different plants and flowers. These pathways lead to different parts of the resort.
There's a manmade lagoon full of goldfish and carp.
A shed where one can just sit, read a book or feed the fish or just simply breath the fresh mountain air.
A Japanese inspired cottage.
A picinic area with sawn pine logs as benches.
And as young people are so apt to do, take pictures and have fun while at it!
Flowers on the ground.

It's still actually cool in the resort as this is just about 6 or 6:15 in the morning.
It's now 7 a.m. Our visit to the resort is over. Everyone's hungry what with all the walking and frolicking everyone did. Fortunately, just about a kilometer or so away, right across the church where we attended dawn mass is another Mountain Resort which is open to the public. It opens at 7 a.m. Just in time and we enjoyed a sumptuous buffet breakfast.
That's about it for this Wednesday Walk. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did reminiscing about the good time we had here. Perhaps another visit to my friend's resort is long overdue. Hopefully, when this whole pandemic crisis is over, that can be arranged. I will surely update you about it on my next visit. Thank you for visiting.
