Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to appreciate a beautiful autumn river walk the little man and I went on!
Wednesday Autumn River Walk
With the onset of autumn here in New England, one of the things that is bittersweet for me is when the beautiful tree changing colors passes the threshold and turn into the bare trees mostly all around us. This year, the tree color changes have been a little different but I guess it's hard to say that it's consistent, with anything in nature being difficult to say definitively happens in one way or another. That's why I find the "climate change" narrative amusing and frankly quite ridiculous. If there is one thing that is inconsistent at best is how seasons and temperatures are predictable on a large scale. We can't predict with any certainty what will happen in a week never mind what will happen next month or next year.
Anyways, off that tangent and back to the topic at hand! The beauty of the scenery the little man and I stumbled upon recently with one of the things that we've been doing and this beautiful river that we've been relatively close to but have never had the opportunity to explore until now!
This river system is one that isn't incredibly big but it's consistent and it's got an incredible landscape that is very walkable and peaceful!
The little man and I had a little bit of time before what we were going to be doing so we decided to take a walk in a field that was next to where we were and we found this beautiful path! We saw the river on a previous journey in the area but we didn't get a chance to explore it like we did in this opportunity. Damn was it worth it! It was such a beautiful walk and it was actually a lot longer than I thought it would be, which worked out well since we had more time in this trip than we did in the last one so that was great!
Rivers are definitely one of my favorite places to go and they are so peaceful. There are so many things that depend on these beautiful moving bodies of water! It's one of my favorite places to walk and the remarkable thing is that where we live right now, there are so many opportunities to have a nice walk and we have barely scratched the surface with them, considering how close this one is to where we live but we have never explored it until recently. This was just a few hundred feet out of several miles of this river. Granted, not all of that is available to go for a walk but it's one of my goals to explore more rivers like this with the little man, and hopefully my wife too one day!
We were exploring it at the perfect time of day too, the "golden hour" which is early evening just as the sun is setting. What a beautiful backdrop for the walk that's for sure! I love the various downed trees around us too, because that's inevitable to have but I think this is one of my favorite pictures of the fall and one that is definitely quintessential New England!
There were some other areas that we could have explored a little bit more but we had a schedule to keep to so we couldn't get to some of these other areas but I know that we are going to plan on hitting this in the coming weeks! The fall is one of my favorite times for going on hiking adventures with the little man, as well as the winter. It's easier to go for these walks I think because it's easy to warm up and stay comfortable instead of trying to cool down and get out of the extreme temperatures. I'm also not going to lie, the fact that there are very little bugs out there is also one of my favorite parts of it lol
There are a lot of things going on in the world that are difficult to handle and manage but being able to get a bit of time out of the house and get back into nature where things are truly important and how we can reconnect and decompress is crucial to have sanity and be able to take a step back and appreciate the small and beautiful things in life even just for an hour or two before we get back to the other parts of life.
