I'll be showing you photos today of my walk up to the Oceanside South Beach which is located at the Assateague Island National Seashore in Berlin, Maryland.
My walk wasn't so much to see the beach as it was to see the sand dunes by the beach.
There is a long boardwalk that leads out to the beach from the parking lot.
The sand dunes aren't very large but they are protected and visitors are asked to stay on the boardwalk to get to the beach.
The beach was very nice and not very crowded, at least not while we were visiting which was still early in the day. That may also be partly due to the fact that there is a fee to enter the Assateague Island National Seashore.
It was not an extremely long walk from the parking area to the beach and it was totally worth it to see both the beach and (for me) the sand dunes there. Unfortunately, I couldn't walk too far onto the beach as the squishy sand made it too difficult for me.
I thought this was an interesting design in the sand that I saw just off the boardwalk.
I guess the design was caused by the wind blowing the sands in a certain direction. Just seeing that made my walk there even more worthwhile!
Thank you for #wednesdaywalk!!
