The storm came to my neck of the woods in the wee hours of Sunday morning. After hearing the warnings announced from the local weather channel here in Upstate NY, we were content knowing we were prepared to hunker down for the next few days. The report told us we would have continuous precipitation for 36-40 hours. It was going to be a doozy, layers of snow, hale, freezing rain, then more snow.
Well, for once this forecast was spot on. Our total accumulation was a whooping 14 inches of this beautiful white blanket, we call snow.
I woke up very early Sunday morning, wanting to get some cool pictures of this continuing storm. I was already thinking ahead to join in the #wednesdaywalk, with my friend , I know there are probably some walkers that have never experienced the beauty of a good ole northeaster.
Bundled up to the max, off I went, trudging through knee high snow, breathing in the crisp, clean air, ready to enjoy the beauty #nature bestowed on us overnight.
Here on our #homestead, trees are every where and when a nice snowfall hits, the trees capture a whole new look. So pretty.
A blanket of snow can change or disguise some pretty strange creatures. I was pretty freaked out by this poor fellow who kept shouting "help me, I am melting and leaking at the same time". He had weird eyes, that looked very scary. I took a quick picture, and scrammed.
Now this big ole polar bear had lost his way and landed in our front yard.
I think he was hiding something under his back leg, ya see it? Looks awfully suspicious.
As it turns out, with all the #googlyeyes of this wonderful world, love, laughter and giggles seem to be it's central theme.
When I got the courage to investigate that eye, that single eye, I was so surprised to find another polar bear hiding out. After a quiet hello, she told me of her journey here. She had been in an accident during the storm and had lost her eye. She was so injured, she could not walk.
She said "when I could not walk, he carried me" my loving husband carried me to safety, are we safe here? she asked .
Of course you are, I said, after the courage and love that your husband showed you during such bad times, I think you must be good creatures. Setting a good example for all the future #googlyeyed creatures to come.😊💕👍🤩
I had a partner to walk with this morning, my neighbor and bff, Randy.
Also braving the cold with us, Randy's dog CLOE.
Beautiful #wednesdaywalk.
Have wonderful day!
