I was staying at a B&B here and having never been in a Mediterranean climate, I wanted to see what the neighbourhood was like; its gardens and architecture, and the beach.
There were beautiful and fragrant flowers everywhere.
Bougainvillea of different colours splashed over the walls.
walls.
I had never seen one like this one, above, but they were everywhere in different colours.
Many of the gardens were walled.
Everywhere I looked, there was texture whether in plants, walls, trees, or paving.
Is it a white hibiscus or pale pink?
Flowers everywhere.
A beautiful texture and pattern with this old brick.
Delicate flowers softening the edge of a walkway.
Stone walls in a few places.
I saw cacti and succulents, dragon trees and palms.
Most of the gardens were well established. I'm not sure how old the neighbourhood is but closer to the beach the houses are older unless they have been torn down to make way for newer ones.
These are really fascinating.
Where I live, a wall like this probably wouldn't make it through the winter.
This flower in another gorgeous colour.
I didn't know what to make of this plant at all.
Here are a few of those older houses.
More bougainvillea in hot pink and coral.
Someone is building a new house. New ones are typically in a modern style here.
A small succulent just poking through the sandy soil.
I think it's a Norfolk Island pine.
