This what I do in the days of Covid-19...
I suppose I'm just trying to record history. Hopefully one day I can look back at all this and remember how we all survived. I walk around for hours and take photos. I'm up to 15 km or more daily. I don't walk fast and I do avoid coming close to any other humans. We wave to each other from across the street. Most people are becoming more friendly, but only at a distance.
Cycling through the war-zone
I try to find some beauty every day. It's actually pretty easy because most things haven't changed, at least on the surface. Above: Looking down the hill towards my house. My street is one of the last to have cherry blossoms in bloom. The blossoms have faded and fallen in most areas.
Let's look at some flowers first... above: a pink tulip.
A magnolia tree in blossom
Red Currants... one of my favourites and these seem to stay in bloom for a long time.
I promised you Deer in the title. Here's a doe walking down my street. They seem to have become more active during the day as the streets have become less busy.
Above: two fawns from last year. Perhaps 'fawn' is the wrong term... what would you say, yearlings?
Above: 4 PM today. A normally busy street is completely empty.
The buses are running, but almost empty. The city no longer charges for a bus ride. You have to enter and exit through the side door and stay well away from the driver.
Playgrounds are deserted. Many of them have yellow police tape and signs warning people to stay away.
Tent cities are springing up in most parks. This used to be illegal, but now the rules have been relaxed. I'm glad that the homeless are not being harassed by the police. These people are in more danger than most.
Almost home... I walk through the little square in Fernwood. Everything is closed.
A collection of signs from store windows. Be safe, everyone. Hope for better days to come!
