#wednesdaywalk is a challenge started by . The idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start.
My walk today isn’t far as it is spitting rain off and on.
I was delighted to be greeted by this magnificent beetle on the deck railing. I love his two long feelers...antennae?
Beetle Of Some Kind
Mr. Beetle is a wonderful looking beetle, unknown to me but he seemed nice and posed for me.
Today seems to be a day of insects. I saw a lot of these long legged flies hanging around.
This one seems caught in a short web.
Long legged insect
The hummingbirds seem to have gone South and the hornets & wasps have taken over the feeder. Will have to bring it in, clean it up, to use for next Spring.
Hornets At the Hummingbird Feeder
This hornet is having a good drink.
Am I brave or foolhardy? ....
This is a wasp nest I found in the shed...it appeared vacant. I brought it into the house and put it on my fake bird fixture for now.
This wasp nest is made from chewed wood that gives the distinctive papery walls. The texture of the gray coloured nest is like delicate spin paper.
Wasp Nest
I’ll know it if something flies out of it!!! 😧It will be a run, not a walk. 🏃🏼♀️
