Continuing on from last week's Wednesday Walk, these are three of several beautiful homes on the Southside of my town.
This Italianate style home with Corinthian motifs is typical of the most popular style of Victorian architecture in this town in the 1870s. The house was built in 1875
The first owner was originally from Missouri and move to this town where he became a successful farmer and rancher. Mr. Hunt was a large shareholder of the town's Bank and was president of the county winery.
The house was restored by the current owners in 2000, and have been featured on Restore America and in the magazine Victorian Decorating. It received the town's Heritage Home award in 2001.
Next is a three-story Georgian Colonial Revival style home that was built in 1905 by a San Francisco architectural firm.
The home has been in the same family for 70 years and has remained unchanged in original design.
The house received the town's Heritage Home award in 1990.
This Victorian Mansion is one of the great homes of the era in the United States. It has been described by an eminent art historian as "an outstanding example of Stick Vernacular and a locally unique variant of the Stick style Victorian architecture in vogue in the 1880s."
The Victorian mansion was built in 1885 and this grand home has been refurbished and restored by the current owners.
