Wednesday Walk surrounded by butterflies!

I got a bit distracted from my Wednesday Walk plan after I glanced out the window and saw butterflies everywhere! The Japanese Lilac at the corner of my deck is blooming and it was alive with Red Admiral's!

They were everywhere!

I even had them landing on me! I simply was unable to leave this spectacle and go for a walk!

The red admiral has a wingspan of about 3 inches. It has black/ brown wings on its upperside with orange bands and white spots, and its underside is a mottled blue, brown, and black.

It was hard to quit taking photos of these beauties, and I'm glad that I got to enjoy them, because after a few hours they had all dispersed and only an occasional Red Admirals landed on the flowers.
