I was rolling one up and checking out the latest Cannabis News - edibles are now available in Canada, Illinois legalizes recreational cannabis Jan 1, 2020.
Legal Edible Cannabis in Canada
CBC News was on location - in cannabis retailer in Halifax - showing off the Peach Mango Chews, Sea salt and Caramel milk chocolate bars, and decaf peach ginger green tea, all with cannabis. The legal cannabis edibles have a limit of 10mg THC content max per package. They were discussing how edibles are different from smoking, as far as it going through your liver with edibles and not with smoking. Canada delayed making cannabis edibles available for purchase due to the worry of edible overdose cases similar to those that had popped up in Colorado with people taking a trip to the hospital due to edible over consumption.
Recreational Cannabis becomes Legal in Illinois Jan. 1, 2020
This WGN News report discusses what you need to know for the upcoming recreational cannabis legalization in Illinois. Unfortunately, only medical cannabis users can grow their own plants at home, huge bummer. Edibles have been available for their medical cannabis users and will be immediately available for recreational users. In-state purchasers can buy 30 grams of flower, 5 grams of concentrate, and 500 mg of infused or edible products - out of state purchasers can only purchase half of those amounts. Police will be watching for impaired drivers as well, be safe.
Legal Cannabis Use is a Challenge for Illinois Companies with Zero Tolerance Policies
A new law is approaching that will change how companies with zero tolerance polices will have to adjust. The new law states that when Illinois legalizes cannabis, citizens have a right to smoke when not at work. Companies can still keep zero-tolerance policies for employees not using at work, but it will be harder to prove than with a simple drug test.
It's good to see that recreational cannabis legalization is happening soon in this New Year and that legal edibles are available in Canada.
