Steemians... Good day. Easter Holidays have come and gone and it's now time to return to work once again.

My article today is somewhat a carryover from yesterday's post, in which I called for setting up a special curation scheme that's targeted at rewarding #introduceyourself posts that meet set standards. I went further to make case for replicating the Hive account@sndbox scheme into six places to cater for assigned tags or communities. Both suggestions were inspired to address the wide disparity between the total number of accounts ever created on Steemit, (which was put at 902,793) and the number of active users put at 60,084) according to @reko's stat publication.

The aforementioned stats aren't by any means good for Steemit because the percentage of people who get to stay after creating accounts is misery 6%. Anyone who wishes steem well should not just be keeping quiet. Hence this post is a sort of reinforcement to what I said yesterday.

Yesterday while playing my role of recommending #promo-steem tagged posts for curation by @steem-ambassordor CAMPUS scheme, I came about a project started by Hive account@yoo1900. It is such a commendable one that's bound to make far reaching impacts within steem ecosystem. With over 440000SP balance in his account, Hive account@yoo1900 has been running a minnow-targeted scheme by which he selects 5 exceptionally written minnow posts every day and upvote each with voting weight of between 50% to 80%.

The VP will be about 50%-80% on each post of the selected minnow. This is in order to promote quality and good content on Steemit.com.

Going by the above information, Hive account@yoo1900 curates 35 minnow posts weekly, 150 minnow posts monthly! And each of his upvotes will yield not less than 15sbd in payout. And this is outside his regular curation to those close to him. Now when you take into account that there many top class Steemians, like Hive account@yoo1900, whose huge SPs are just lying idle in their accounts, you would appreciate how generously supportive Hive account@yoo1900 has been to this platform.

A lot of minnows (mainly from developing countries) who had abandoned their accounts today wouldn't have done so if they earn 15sbd in a month. At least if they won't achieve anything, they would certainly afford to subscribe to data services. And this could make a whole difference.

My appeal goes to top class Steemians (Whales, Orcas, dolphins, etc)...

60,084 active users out of 902,793 total accounts is very poor outcome. We can do better. We certainly can. Imagine if we have 200 Steemians who are operating like Hive account@yoo1900... That would certainly produce a very significant impact in the community and help raise the embars of active users of this platform, not to talk of the impact it would have on the price of steem.

I know that the primary focus of every business man is profit. All things being equal, Steemians would certainly be drawn to posts they stand a better chance of earning good curation rewards than supporting minnows. As true as this may be, this platform cannot exist without minnows. Both top class Steemians and minnows are both important for continued existence of this platform. No one of them can exist alone. And the performance of steem depends on our (both top class Steemians and minnows) general activities.
