Whatsup guys?
I'm not one to usually point at others and mock or whatever, but I randomly remembered a user I had gotten annoyed at during the hive fork and had muted, so curiosity got the best of me so I went to check if she was still active since I have her muted.
And usually it wouldn't be a big thing, but the irony of her last post being about "using hive or x - why not both" or something of the likes where she tried to connect with other x users, presumably now looking back to get a "jumpstart" or whatever given that that was her last post here to try and earn on X considering it was around that time they introduced earnings.
Either way, she was making good rewards here, her last 7-10 posts average about $40 at a quick glance back at early 2024 hive prices.
Now I don't know the reasons she left, could be personal/other, so I'm not going to assume that she left in hopes for making the bigger Elon bucks, but it got me to thinking how majority of users there are attempting to get up there thinking they're all special and deserve to be in the earners club.
I checked some of her tweets and honestly, impression-wise it wasn't even that impressive if she's been active ever since, I do quite okay there even though I'm barely active so thought I'd share my stats to give you an idea of what you need to be able to earn the minimum amount.
Even with that spike in march, I'm still at only 110k impressions within 3 months.
The minimum amount required?
5 million.
Worst part is that this has been increased at one point because bots/farmers were getting too much of the ad revenue split compared to genuine accounts - so what's to say they're not going to push it further eventually as the bots/farmers catch up again and again and again. Especially now with AI it's going to be difficult to distinguish who's real and isn't.
To willingly give up decentralized social media, even if you only make $5 a day here or $1 for 0 for 2+ years in hopes to once hit a needle in a haystack where one of your tweets explodes and you try to retain as many followers as possible from there and hope it opens up continuous earning opportunities while someone on the deciding seat can just click a button to kill your account just because he may not like you.
This is absurd to me.
made this meme earlier in a snap.
Everyone's trying to grab for that golden ticket to earn while everyone's thinking they're special and not the 99.9% who will never earn anything.
Think about it.
I've thought about it.
"My hive following can give me a boost on x to get past the 5m impressions - easy"
"I can upvote people on hive who engage with me on x"
"I can delegate to people on hive to specifically engage with me on x"
but is it fucking worth it? I don't think so, because in the end you will still end up the 99.9% once they move the goalpost.
Most of us aren't that special and that's okay, you need extreme luck to make it on other socials along with hard work along with dedication and heavy investment of time and effort to make something as a normal person who isn't all that special.
That's what I liked about hive and how it trickles down and creates curators of all of us who then create more curators.
I know it's hard to see it at prices like these where most minnows can't vote a comment past the dust threshold and dolphins feel like eels, but that can change in a heartbeat.
We saw a 50% pump followed by a dump shortly after just a few days ago.
What's a 5000% pump in a month. It's not unheard of, it's not an impossibility, it's not too crazy to think that once the dice rolls and lands on hive we may get back to what we've been and see everyone coming back to the platform that rewards anyone and everyone for just for being anyone.
sorry for the clickbaity title, I don't swear in titles too often, but generally i do like swearing as a fucking form of expression
