It was many years ago after a 13 hr shift at Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, i was invited to join for drinks at Brick lane, which has got some decent bars.
The culture and all was new to me as It was not long I started working in UK. We went to the big chill bar and the weather was cold so I ordered JD but very surprisingly they didn’t have it. JD was my favourite then or even now. Instead the lady served me a double of Four Roses whiskey which I never heard of. The whiskey was amazing and so was the atmosphere.
I tried looking for it in super stores but couldn’t find it. I forgot about it when I moved away from London or did I ?
Last night I met a friend at Brick lane, we went to the Big chill bar but they didn’t have it and i had to satisfy with Jameson. Don’t get me wrong, Jameson is not bad but I wanted to go back in time by having Four Roses. For some strange and unknown reason I never tried to order it online.
We did bar hopping and went into a club in shoreditch. It has a disco in the cellar and I ordered whiskey, she gave me a choice of Jameson or or can you believe Four Roses. That name put me over the limit and capacity but we had a great time.
I took a 0245 train and didn’t trust myself that I would wake up at correct station. There were few occasions where I woke up at the last stop and luckily last stop is 30 mts away from my place. I set up an alarm but woke up 2 stations early and then struggled to keep awake until my station arrived.
I reached home and thought I was sober or was I?
I had such fantastic time or call it trips with Four Roses and now I know where to get it. I am not going to order it online. The bar lady kindly allowed me to take s photo of the Whiskey.
I know it might sound crazy and unreasonable but Four Roses is a philter , for me atleast. After you read this, you might think I’m an alcoholic but i am a whiskey lover and drinker and not an alcoholic or am I ?
