Currently I'm preparing for a Whisky-Dinner with friends, so I had the idea to start a small series on Whiskey & Music in parallel. Currently about 7 contributions are planned, but who knows, maybe there will be a few more :-)

The Story
The Irish folk-punk band 'The Pogues' was founded more than 30 years ago. Their music evokes many memories. John O'Connel, the owner of West Cork, created this Blend Whiskey and was inspired by the music.
For the 30th anniversary of the Christmas hit 'Fairytale of New York' by 'The Pogues' this limited edition metal box was released.
Die irische Folk-Punk Band 'The Pogues' wurde vor über 30 Jahren gegründet. Ihre Musik weckt viele Erinnerungen, so anscheinend auch bei John O'Connel, den Besitzer von West Cork, dem die Musik zu diesem Blend Whiskey inspirierte.
Zum 30. Jubiläum des Weihnachts-Hits 'Fairytale of New York' von 'The Pogues' wurde diese limitierte Metalldose herausgebracht.

The story of West Cork began in 2003 when three friends John O'Connel, Denis McCarthy and Ger McCarthy developed the vision of their own distillery over a drink. Shortly after, the West Cork Distillers was founded at the southern end of Ireland.
With a careful eye for detail, West Cork is the only Irish distillery to exclusively malt its own barley, source only fresh, local spring water from the Ilen River, and uses pot stills for all of their distillations.
Die Geschichte von West Cork beginnt 2003 als die drei Freunde John O'Connel, Denis McCarthy und Ger McCarthy bei einem Drink die Vision einer eigenen Brennerei entwickeln. Kurz darauf entstehen die West Cork Distillers am südlichen Ende Irlands.
Als einzige Brennerei des Landes wird ausschließlich die eigene gemälzte Gerste verwendet sowie frisches Quellwasser aus dem IIen River.

WHISKY vs. WHISKEY
Maybe you have noticed that I use the word whisky/whiskey in different spellings. That's because of the origin of the whiskey. WHISKY is written in Scottish and Canadian, WHISKEY in Irish or American.
I personally prefer 'Whisky' :-)
Vielleicht ist Euch aufgefallen, das ich Whisky/Whiskey in verschiedenen Schreibweisen verwende. Das liegt an der Herkunft des Whisky. Im schottischen und kanadischen schreibt man WHISKY, im irischen bzw. amerikanischen WHISKEY!
Ich persönliche bevorzuge aber 'Whisky' :-)
