Ya sea a simple vista o a través de un lente,
no importa cómo lo intentes, los verás.
Por supuesto que como el típico fantasma
los verás de noche aunque a veces se asoman de día.
A unos los tenemos cerca pero a otros tan lejos que más parecen un sueño olvidado.
Estos fantasmas no asustan, más bien producen asombro y admiración; te maravillas con su esplendor y hasta sueños infinitos. Qué bellos astros que con su tenue luz iluminan la vacía noche, están más lejos que el ayer, más presentes que el ahora y más incierto su futuro que el mañana.
Algunos son como si te llegara una carta de un soldado de la 2da guerra mundial, contándote cosas maravillosas que te llenan de alegría pero que cuando te pones a pensar tal vez ya esté muerto.
Te descubres maravillándote de un fantasma del pasado que te cuenta su historia con su luz, el ahora que vemos de él es un pasado inhóspito para nosotros pero que parece tan cercano gracias al lente que pareciera tenerlo en frente.
Son fantasmas más amistosos que Gasparín, más brillantes que las estrellas de la farándula y tan interesantes que cada nuevo descubrimiento acerca de ellos nos da una esperanza y alegría como si descubrieramos la cura a una enfermedad nueva.
En nuestros sueños y películas nos acercamos a ellos y los contemplamos con gran esplendor para engañarnos u olvidarnos un rato lo lejos que están de nosotros. Les ponemos nombres y hacemos figuras en el cielo imaginando que nos quieren decir algo, los dotamos de personalidad como si fueran alguien y no algo.
Venturoso afán del hombre de humanizar lo inanimado y deshumanizar a sus semejantes.
Nos vemos en la siguiente noche queridos fantasmas hasta que llegue el día que vaya con ustedes.
Whether it's through the naked eye or through a lens, no matter how you try, you'll see them.
Of course, like the typical ghost, you'll see them at night, even though sometimes they show up during the day. Some of them are close to us, but others are so far away that they seem more like a forgotten dream.
These ghosts do not frighten, but rather produce astonishment and admiration; you marvel at their splendor and even infinite dreams. What beautiful stars that with their dim light illuminate the empty night, are farther away than yesterday, more present than now and more uncertain their future than tomorrow.
Some are like a letter from a World War II soldier coming to you, telling you wonderful things that fill you with joy but that when you think about it may already be dead.
You find yourself marveling at a ghost of the past that tells you its story with its light, the now that we see of it is a past that is inhospitable to us but that seems so close thanks to the lens that seems to have it in front of us.
They are ghosts friendlier than Gasparin, brighter than the stars of show business and so interesting that each new discovery about them gives us hope and joy as if we were discovering a cure for a new disease.
In our dreams and films we approach them and contemplate them with great splendor to deceive us or forget for a while how far they are from us. We name them and make figures in the sky imagining that they want to tell us something, we give them personality as if they were someone and not something.
Venture man's desire to humanize the inanimate and dehumanize his fellow men.
