The captivity of a CRU elephant in East Aceh was shocked by the death of Bunta (a tame elephant to ward off wild elephants due to animal conflicts), according to elephant controllers at the Serbian Civil Service Bunta died being poisoned. The Sumatran elephant named Bunta has been placed to serve in the CRU Serbajadi Aceh Timur with the elephant controllers, in order to control the wild elephants that conflict with humans. Bunta poisoned and taken ivory by unknown people, BKSDA parties continue to search for the perpetrators who killed Bunta.
Head of Natural Resources and Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) Aceh, Sapto Aji Prabowo criticized and called the action experienced by Bunta as a barbaric treatment because so far the tame elephants in the Serbian CRU play a big role and help to overcome elephant and human conflict.
The Head of BKSDA also said that he would give Rp 10 Million for those who killed Gajah Bunta, Sapto Aji also hoped that the perpetrators could be arrested and punished according to the prevailing regulations.
Enough Papa genk, Yongky, Bunta and more than 700 other elephants who have been victims for the past 10 years. Our morality as a nation is questionable if we do not stop the cruelty to the animals where we should be able to live side by side.
