Total Beach Bum!
Crystal Clear and calm day....
No, he didn't pack his lunch, but, he's dining al Fresco, today! Sitting by the inlet, warming himself, he's looking for a little something to nibble. Mainly, Snowy Owls eat shorebirds. Oh, they'll eat field mice, other raptors and small mammals, too, but, usually they prefer to eat, a little something more feathered.
Sadly, there was no getting him (or her) to get closer. This is about 150 yards away! AND mostly, he kept facing the other way. A few times, he spun to check out behind him. I only stayed on him about 15 minutes. it was 22, and cold. 22 and windy. 22 and hellish! With him so far away, the shot wasn't that good.
Twas a nasty day weather wise. COLD.
But birding? Snowy Owl, Barred, Ross's Goose, half a dozen other ducks, two kinds of woodpeckers, harrier in the distance, red tailed, possibly a juvenile Bald Eagle, and down on the beach, a dozen different types of Shorebirds.
