New faces are in sight in Wimbledon this year with the rise of younger players aiming to bring a new era of world tennis. But the seasoned players are a tough act to follow, and it’s going to be very hard to displace them from their pedestals.
Men's Wimbledon 2019 Favorites
The veterans Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have consistently been among the Men’s Singles Wimbledon 2019 favorites. These three combined have won the past 10 Wimbledon tournaments, proving they’re still the best tennis players the world has witnessed.
Novak Djokovic
In any competition, all eyes will always be fixated on the defending champ. Coming off last year’s Wimbledon as the favorite that did not disappoint, Novak Djokovic combines his impressive core strength, flexibility and counter-punching abilities to win his matches. He has taken four Wimbledon titles and is currently the number one in world ATP rankings.
Rafael Nadal
While Nadal’s past injuries and challenging feats on grass courts worry a lot of his fans, we can’t deny his amazing speed, powerful topspin groundstrokes and consistency will take him to triumph. He has won over 80 titles throughout his tennis career, 2 of which are carved from Wimbledon. He recently won the Italian Open and Rolland Garros, so his journey to this year’s Championships is highly anticipated.
Roger Federer
Among the winner’s circle is eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer, who’s clearly on the hunt to snag his 100th victory in the Grand Slam. Along with the Men’s Singles Wimbledon Favorites, the Swiss record-breaker is just as hungry to claim the trophy. We’ll definitely see his outstanding technique and do-or-die playing style on the grass this year.
On July 13 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, we’ll see if these all-star players will be able to defend their long-term reign in the Wimbledon. And we’ve only got one week left to find out.
