In the new garage that was built last year was no electra installed. For the winter a good light and some sockets will be handy to work in a warmer and dry place. So let's get to work it was raining anyway.
To be able to built a safe electricty system you need to know some very basic stuff. If you don't know what your doing you can kill yourself. 240 volts is not a problem but 16 amperes is less healthy!
Basic knowledge for installing:
The 3 most common voltages around the world are 120, 240 and 400volt. More volt means higher efficiency in the transport of power. In Europe we use 240 volts for home appliances and heavy tools can be 400volts.
Wires have color codes they change allot per country and are also updated a couple of times. In practice this means you can't trust the colors of wiring in old houses always double check! The most common modern wires I know in Europe are blue(zero), brown(phase) and a yellow&green(earth). Never mix those colors and never built a system with only 1 color. for outside Europe click here
The phase brings the power you can test it with a special screwdriver. This screwdriver has a special light that goes on when you touch a live wire.
Tools:
- Screwdriver with voltage tester.
- Crimp lever pliers
- Drill/hammer
Materials:
- Sockets
- Wire
- Tubing
- Junction box
Almost done! Only need to connect the wires to the main electricity Junction box. I did this last so I could work without cutting the power in the house.
