About 10 days ago I wrote a post with some stats and figures about witness votes for "dead witnesses".
These are the relevant figures in that post:
51,895 votes are cast for inactive witnesses (dead witnesses).
= a grand total of 202,368 MV worth of votes
&
26,009 Steemians voting on dead witnesses.
Link to the post:
Can Your Witness Vote Really Make a Difference? See for yourself.
Today the relevant figure is:
187,862 MV
=
14,506 MV votes that are no longer on "dead witnesses".
Was this a result of the post from 10 days ago "tagging the 26,009 Steemians"?
idk, maybe that had a little something to do with this.
Maybe not.
Really isn't all that relevant or worth mentioning, in respect to the existing number of votes and SP/MV going to dead witnesses.
Was this effort of mine a failure?
idk.
Is the glass half full or half empty?
All depends I guess on what the goals of this effort were.
Doesn't it!
Here is the punchline after all this number crunching, which I admit, the bulk of it was in that week leading up to the original post from ten days ago.
Today was a piece of cake compared to the info I felt was needed for the original post and to be frank about it i don't see any point in listing names or individual votes from then to today. Anyone can check Steemd of any Steemian and check it out.
The real punchline isn't necessarily the numbers of some 200,000 MV of votes to dead witnesses.
Some may think it is, as the highest individual active voter who literally is deciding (can decide) on 30 of the positions of active witnesses does so with some 18,507 MV.
Yes, with one tenth of the SP/MV one voter decides on the governance of Steem.
So 200,000 MV worth of votes, ten times what the key voter who is the deciding factor for the 30 witness voted on by that account is definitely not a number to ignore.
At least, not in my opinion.
I have in the past approached some of the issues in reference to the flaws in our voting system.
In that post I was more so relaying the fact that people tend to die and that our witness votes are valid til "infinity", which is not really a logical thing, no matter what angle one looks at if from.
If anyone is interested in that post, here is the link:
But not to underestimate the message in that post and apply the same principle on votes that have been cast to dead witnesses, without going into any of the calculations of votes cast by dead people for living witnesses, there is a once again, based on the current figures more than good reason to believe how a good portion of the 200,000MV of witness votes for dead witnesses could be from dead voters.
May they RIP.
God bless their souls.
Now, what I am going to state is not going to be to the liking of some, but any voting system in the history of mankind in which "dead peoples votes" were/are counted for current "elections" was not looked upon favourably.
I mean, seriously, without any sarcasm or whatever else anyone may read out of this, but where in any professional society, business or nation has anyone ever considered an election of governance in which dead voters voted = fair and reasonable. (rhetorical question, hence why there is no question mark).
I won't go into what this portrays, as it won't be nice.
So, rather than go into any descriptive texts of those who have used dead voters to decide upon their governance through the course of man kinds history, I shall leave it to you, the reader to think about it and consider just how important this really is.
Without any unnecessary drama or sarcasm or anything else that may get anyone out there "upset".
All I am stating is that this is more than important.
Based upon the figures and facts it is not a potential issue, it is a current issue, which can only get worse by the day because as is commonly known our bodies shall one day be clinically dead.
