In a previous witness update I was mentioning about a spamming account and how it got affected by the introduction of the Resource Credits of HF20. That account was showing up in my Sumo Logic dashboard with about 150 times a day with an insufficient RC error but look at how that number dropped (screenshot above) it went all the way down to only 4 in the last 3 days! A little look at it's profile on steemd.com shows that its activity is super reduced so that confirms that the bot is not even attempting to post as often as before. Can we consider this as a success for HF20? Is it the first? Maybe not but it makes my title more interesting 😜🤣
However, I still cannot explain why it can still post one comment every now and then so I have raised this issue with Steemit Inc on their GitHub account and here is the answer:
So, one or more backup witnesses are running a modified version of the Steem blockchain that is not enforcing the RC? So I went back to profile on steemd.com, checked who was the witness who signed the blocks that hold his transactions and they are all from
. One exception is
's last comment who was signed by
who is the only witness running v0.26.0 which I believe is actually v0.26.0rc1 (Release Candidate 1). A Release Candidate is a beta version that is potentially a production version ready to be released unless a major bug is found. Being unsure of whether
has also modified his version of the blockchain or if it is a bug introduced by v0.26.0rc1 I decided respond to the Github thread that is now closed.
I might have to open a new issue for this if no answer is provided. I decided to open a new ticket for more visibility: https://github.com/steemit/steem/issues/3097
With now dropped from #1 of accounts encountering insufficient RC errors, my Sumo Logic dashboard is now showing a new top account:
I didn't know about until today but it seems like a bot that upvotes random posts (not just #introduceyourself posts as I initially thought) at 1% of 2232 SP that makes it $0.000 STU per upvote... what's the point? It also seems that the bot is also randomly comments on the posts with the following message:
At least that one is quite useful but might be contributing to faster RC drain on its account. A look at the upvote history of the bot revealed it was upvoting at 2% in the past with a more useful upvote value of $0.03 STU. So maybe it has lost some delegations recently...
Anyway, enough playing Sherlock Holmes for today lol.
