MIRA Enabled Witness Now Online -- Steem Witness Active
As promised here is a quick update regarding the state of my Steem Witness.
I updated my launch infrastructure to be auto-healing and take advantage of cheap spot fleet instances with AWS. Combining this with the MIRA on disk database has enabled a simple and quick method for automated server management.
I will of course need to keep up with updates and manually push those changes as a new AMI in my deployment.
Resource Usage
Resource usage has drastically decreased to around 1G of usage. You read that correct, current usage for an active, synced witness is around 1G! That is quite the difference from 60GB+ from pre-MIRA.
Replay Time
Initial replay time took roughly 4-5 days, however, the created state files can be reused to deploy other servers much quicker. I wonder if SteemIt is interested in possibly serving a public download of the MIRA files or if such a thing is even possible.
I will keep looking at things as the Steem source code develops especially with the release of the SPS coming soon.
