If you are familiar with the game, then you will stumble across strange marked items that mobs accidentally drop: ethereal reagents, which can be used to modify your Wolcen legendary items. Today we will have a brief look at how they play a vital role in crafting.
The 2 rarity levels in Wolcen
There are two colors for reagents:
➢ The white ones are responsible for keeping items at a stock level and you should only use them for rare items.
➢ The red ones are "rare editions" of the reagents and are used for legendary items.
What can you change with the reagent?
You can experiment with the “blue” modifiers of an item in Wolcen. Meanwhile, the "white" modifiers are permanent and nothing can be changed on them. It is therefore important to use an item with a high basic level and strong white modifiers for crafting. You can use a reagent by activating it with a right-click and then select the item you are changing with a left-click.
The 4 types of reagents:
➢ The simplest and first type is entropy orb. It rolls out all the magical effects of an object.
➢ The second type is "Ohmic’s Echo": This item removes a random modifier and adds a new one.
➢ The third type is "Abyssal Tear": the reagent removes only one modifier, making an item weaker, but it also gives way for new and better improvements.
➢ The fourth type is "Eribean Tear": This item adds a modifier when there is still space on the item.
How gemstones work
If an item has a base of gemstones, then this gives the player a chance to add unique modifications. Because a newly rolled out modifier (or a protected one when Abyssal tears) has the probability to improve the properties with a gem.
The gemstones used are destroyed during crafting, but the base statistics remain. According to the online guides, you should fill all the bases, otherwise, there is a chance that the gems have no effect.
The gemstones have a corresponding type: Lapis lazuli, for example, are assigned to the element "lightning", so an item could be given a modifier that will pick up this property. This means that a lightning gem can give elemental resistance.
Things to consider when crafting gemstones
In the entropy orb, the gemstones only affect one modifier - not all. With "Ohms’ Echo" the gemstones influence which mod is added - not which disappears. If you want to get a new modifier then you should use "Abyssal Tear" and socket gems that influence physical damage. If you use “Eribean Tear” on an item that carries this base, the chance of getting a modifier would be a lot higher.
Conclusion
If you just “craft” quickly and don't want to use a lot of resources on an item, you can roll it out again with the entropy orb and hope that it will fit at some point. Use the “Ohmic’s echo” and gemstones to have more influence on the outcome.
