This is somewhat like a BIO, but it will focus more on the beginnings. You see my father taught me all he could about woodworking and I kinda ran with it. I loved how it all starts with a tree, then a plank of wood then a creation or design. So my slogan, is it all starts with a piece of wood, when my customers ask me can you build me something like this, with a picture. I always can. We work together to get the measurements just right and a piece of beautiful furniture is created.
So here are some pictures before my shop was built. I had a long hard process of clearing the land, and leveling it out.
Then we had to build the trusses because the crane and the delivery truck could not get into the land. In the Spring it is difficult with so much rain it is just too muddy for the trucks, so I had to haul all the lumber in my van and build the trusses myself with a little help from my son and a couple of friends.

Next Came the insulation and the window and doors. I chose to go with a patio door for the wider pieces of furniture.
I used crushed stone for the foundation. Also I only painted the outside walls with an exterior paint, like I said it aint pretty but it works. Next I had to set up the inside with walls and put my patterns in place.
So now that I have the shop all set up. I had a fireplace installed and an oil furnace for the nights to keep it warm while I am at my home. I built a small office with a cot for those lazy tired afternoons. And I put in a wicked stereo system, wiring 2 large speakers across the room. I was broken into 2X and they took my drills. You don't take a woodworkers drill, man, so I decided I needed some trail cams as there is no wifi out at the shop. Then I got a new security system where you open the door without pushing a button and a really loud alarm sounds. I got is for $5 at Canadian Tire. I am in the bush so it really wont do much but scare them away. I hung some bird feeders so I would have company, lol.
This all was built 3 years ago, and I have not looked back since. I feel like the little shoemakers elf working away at my secluded shop. This is one of the first pieces I made in my shop for a really nice older lady for her condo. It is a one seater deacon bench. Apartments and Condos have narrow entrance ways to put anything so I designed this myself and she was very pleased. I only use softwoods such as Pine as it is too expensive here to purchase hardwood. I stained it and varnished it with 3 coats of varnish.
Here it is all stained and varnished
That's it folks that is the beginning of how I started my woodshop, after working for 25+ years in the industry, I finally had my own shop. It feels great. All photo's are taken by Me. #originalcontent
