Hey JessieMarketers
We now live in a world where most of our communication is done via instant messaging apps with our addition constantly being fed with instant two-way communication. Instant messaging has become a rich media service by incorporating photos, video and voice notes and is now our medium of choice.
So when a call or SMS comes through you take note since it has to be important, its something out of the ordinary. I don't know about other countries but in SA more often than not a call is some poor corporate slave trying to shill you some insurance, live cover, a new mobile phone contract or a host of useless products I dont' need.

People can buy shit on their own time
We have the internet for fuck's sake if I wanted something I'd order it online or go to the store. Your call won't convince me, in fact, it puts me off your business. I realise cold calling works or people wouldn't do it but what I can't accept is telling these companies never to contact me again and yet they continue to do so, this spray and pay approach to get sales is borderline harassment.
No means no
I mean I didn't even keep contacting my ex's when they told me they are not interested so when I tell you I don't want life cover if I get shot, I fucking mean it. Perhaps you need it because you might piss someone off and they shoot you.
As I'm writing this I just hung up on Standard Bank for the 3rd time this week after telling them you're not my type, but this thirst is real. Like I get you gotta pay bills and all but fuck me sideways their has to be a better way.
Saying no doesn't work, adding yourself to do-not-call lists don't work, having call screening apps work to some extent but why should we have this in the first place? I think I may have been more forgiving if it was something I wanted but you literally selling me dog shit for no other reason than you getting a commission at the end of the month.
This is what happens when businesses no longer give a shit about creating value and only about their bottom line. This poor lady and the guy before her that called will probably be out on their assses soon once the company moves to robocalling where they can just piss even more customers off since we don't have a choice but to use their shit banking services.
How do you deal with telemarketers? Do you let them have it? Let them down easily? Just ignore it altogether?
Have your say
