Now, I know work can be a bitch if you don't love your job. I mean, I've worked in hospitality my whole life. I may only be 20 years old, but from being able to work from when you are 14; 6 years feels like forever in that line of work.
My jobs have varied over the years, from working at KFC, to a toy store, to the complete opposite spectrum by working in a Strip Club and Nightclub. As you can probably guess, the strip club and nightclub were the more fun places to work.
I don't know what kind of jobs all of you guys have but holy shit working in a nightclub can go from 0-100 real quick. The late nights, rowdy patrons, vomit in the couches, spilled drinks all over the dance floor.. one night one of our bouncers even got a heel to the face. I mean, the lady literally took her high heels off and hit our bouncer in the face with the heel, which went straight through his cheek. We've had people caught with all kinds of drugs, bringing their own alcohol in, males coming in dressed in dresses (which definitely looked better on them than half the girls in town), and just so much crap happening in the span of 7 hours that the club was open.
The strip club, well that was completely different. I did the door most nights, taking cover charge, stamping patrons and making sure no one completely intoxicated entered the venue. Now even with the fact I wasn't one of the exotic dancers and that was written plainly for everyone to see, I still had people try to touch me; reach over my desk, comment on my boobs, ask for 'hugs', which was completely inappropriate. There are set rules that are strictly followed in a venue that gives the kind of goods that my work gave.
So, if you think about, the fact I started working out in town right when I turned 18, made it that I was working in town every night that the nightclub was open. I never had a night off when the town strip was busy. Never able to go out and party with friends, always the one behind the bar selling them drinks and watching them have the time of their lives.
Honestly, I was making good money, $250-$300 a night not including tips, but sometimes I look back on the beginning of my adult life and regret working in the nightclub and strip club for so long, because I wasn't able to have the party life that most people had. Didn't go out and make bad decisions at least for one night a month.
Plus, having those jobs on a resume nowadays, all potential employers look at you like you're at the bottom of the food chain, "you worked at a strip club? Why would you do that?" Oh I don't know, maybe because the staff and dancers there were the most amazing people and made the job one of the most fun ones I've had.
Next time you guys go out, get sloshed, take some random chick home and have the time of your life, make sure you thank your barmaid. It may be their choice, but most give up their social life to earn the money they do, and deal with your drunk ass every night, and come on, everyone knows they're a sloppy drunk when they get to a certain point.
Have a good day people :)
