Hello everyone, at the beginning I would like to welcome you to my contribution and hope you also have a great start to the new week! In this article I would like to share an artistic experience I made in Basel and am happy if you like my new contribution.
On the first day in the city, I already walked past this museum and a few days later I decided to visit it. The museum already has several centuries of history behind it and the traces of its foundation already date back to the 17th century, which is why it's even considered one of the oldest museums in Switzerland. Over time, the museum has been expanded again and again and the focus is to illuminate the history of art and works by the most famous artists of the world are exhibited here. There is a very diverse program offered and every Wednesday there is even the opportunity to take action yourself and join a workshop to let the own creativity run free and there are also times when the museum is free and on Wednesday it can be visited free of charge between 17 and 20 pm. The advantage of these programs is to promote young artists and to create a connection between art history with the modernity and I briefly visited the workshop and was kindly invited by the staff to come again in the future and it's a unique inactive which is offered rather less often in museums of this kind. Events also sometimes take place here and it's an important hotspot of the worldwide art scene and not to forget there is also a range of changing exhibitions to visit here.
The price for admission amounts to about 30 CHF which is really fair for what is offered and if you want to save the entrance fee, you should take into account that there are also times when admission is free. The museum was in any case much larger than I had suspected and it's very important to bring enough time and in any case I would say that at least three hours are needed to look at everything carefully, but through intensive studying, days can also be spent here. With hundreds of thousands of paintings by different artists it is a considerable collection which is divided into different eras and in addition to paintings there are also sculptures, drawings or other works to be seen here. It's particularly popular because of the enormous collection of modern art and shows that it was important to create an interface between old times and modernity and I can only recommend every visitor to the city to take the time and visit the museum.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new! I captured these pictures with my Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens and iPhone 16.
