One of those largely unknown facts of WW2 is the one that inspired the movie :Land of Mine (2015) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3841424/)
This movie is based on real events and tells the story of German POWs sent to clear mines in Denmark after World War II.
There are no reliable statistics, but it is believed that more than 2,500 German soldiers were forced to remove mines from the danish coasts, and nearly half of them lost their lives or limbs.
Many of them were only teenagers conscripted by Hitler in the last days of the war.
