I was able to check out Impact Wrestling on the axs network recently due to my recent switch to AT&T TV, which was necessitated by my need for the YES Network. It has been a long time since I was able to watch an Impact Wrestling show, which derives from my interest in the beginning stages of TNA Wrestling. Although the show did come off as quirky at times, especially the scenes involving Tommy Dreamer, it was still good to check out another pro wrestling option.
Known as the Cowboy, as one can understand from his promo photo above, James Storm has returned to Impact Wrestling for a third go-around. He did spend a short minute with NXT and, according to pro wrestling sources, would have had a shot in the WWE if the pandemic didn't put a damper on the whole situation.
On this recent Impact program, James Storm was scheduled to wrestle in his 1,000th match with the company. His opponent was Eric Young, whom was actually grappling with Storm for the 100th time in his career. Storm was surprised to see his old faction (America's Most Wanted) reunite, as Chris Harris, Chris Sabin and Jake Something were at ringside for the match. Violent By Design, Young's own faction, was also ringside by the appearance of Joe Doering, Deaner and Rhino.
Having both these teams surround the ring led to just as much action on the outer portion of the ropes as was inside the squared circle. Eric Young was able to escape the first Eye Of The Storm but definitely was rocked by the second. Young did land some effective neckbreakers and a flying elbow drop. While Deaner had the referee distracted, Young went for his hockey mask to use as a weapon. Chris Harris was able to interfere with this bit of poor sportsmanship, allowing storm to land a superkick for the victory. Storm's 1,000th match with Impact Wrestling goes down in the record books as a pinfall win. I can almost hear his country music video playing in the background. As if all of the distractions mentioned weren't enough, there was an AEW Wrestling presence in the arena!
