Amit and Chaya both of them are walking towards Kolkata Bus stand to return their home in Kamalpur village. They are looking very tired not from physically but mentally exhausted. After reaching the bus stand Amit buy two tickets for Kamalpur which is 200 km from Kolkata. He asking bus conductor “which time bus will leave for Kamalpur”, conductor answer two hours from now. Amit see the timing 10pm now. Then he buy some foods for her wife Chaya . Then come and sit-down beside Chaya and giving her food.
Chaya looking towards Amit and refused to eat anything, just drink some water, tears coming from her eyes .

Chaya and Amit both of them looking each other, then Chaya ask him “ Are you remember everything about past.”
Amit start remembering the past.
Story begins:
Amit is a handsome young boy working as a school teacher in Kamalpur village. Her parents already gone from this universe when he was very young. He married with Kamini. Both of them enjoy their life after marriage. As a result Kamini born a baby, but unfortunately after the delivery of the boy, she will die. In past there was no good hospital in village. So this type of incident happened frequently in villages.
Amit is so frustrated after Kamini's death that he don’t want to see the boy's face. During that time Kamini's sister Chaya and comes to Amit house with her mother.
For the next two month's Amit never touch his boy, he is always make him busy in school, until the day when Chaya and her mother’s was going to leave Amit house.
Chaya’s mother telling Amit that " forget the past, and moves ahead ,” just look at your boy,Suman, Kamini always living inside him”.
Amit started crying, he asked” how this baby will survive without a mother at this stage”.
Chaya’s mother speak him to marry Chaya , kamini's sister.
Amit is so surprised but finally agree because of the baby.
Very next day Amit married with Chaya and give his son to her and telling her " from today it's your son".
Chaya is very good woman she never want her own son from Amit .
Amit forget everything. He is very happy with Chaya and his son Suman.
Suman start growing faster. He is a very intelligent boy . He always stood fast in his class. Amit and Chaya both of them very proud of their son.
After finished in secondary school Amit admitted Suman to Kolkata university, where he start living in a hostel. Though Amit is a school teacher , but he give everything to his son,Sumun. Every time Chaya support Amit for that.
Suman Knows that Chaya is not his own mother, rather than she is a step mom, but as Chaya loves him so much that Suman never complains and treats her as his own mom.
Time is passing, Suman graduated from Kolkata university and very soon, he get a good job. His company give him flat to stay in Kolkata.
Suman loves Mamta from his college life who is a daughter of very a rich person in Kolkata.
One day Mamta calls Suman to his house to introduce him to her parents.
Mamta’s father understand that Suman is a good guy, and Mamta will be very happy with Suman.
After that one day Suman marry Mamta in Kolkata.
After marriage Suman informed his father that he already marry Mamta.
Suman’s parents are shocked as both Amit and Chaya both have so many dreams about Suman’s marriage.
Amit is very angry with Suman as he not taking his permission before marriage and he not want see Suman's face again.
But Chaya, his mother forgive Suman and informed him to come home with his wife.
When Suman brings his wife Mamta to his home Chaya arrange a small party in her home.
Its is small celebration according to their ability.
Chaya want to give her all Ornaments to Mamta, but Mamta refused to take them as she was suman's step mom and she never give birth a baby .
Chaya listen first time the word's “stepmom” from Mamta in her whole life.
Mamta refused to stay in village and finally Suman leave his parents in village alone and settled in Kolkata.
Very next year Mamta give birth of a girl child.
Suman informed his father about this.
Both Suman and Mamta come to visit Suman house in Kolkata to see the baby.
When they reach their son's house, Mamta shouted on Chaya, she don't want to show her baby’s face to Chaya as she was Suman's step mom and she never give birth a baby.
Chaya was very sad that day and leave Suman's house. Chaya never want her own baby because thinking about Suman's well-being.
Now it is a curse for her life.
After that Amit and Chaya never visit their son’s house.
From that day Chaya was very much absent minded and she don't take her foods well.
Because of this Chaya going to seek . Doctors tell Amit that he should give her better treatment in Kolkata
Very next day Amit brings Chaya to Kolkata City nursing home. Doctor's checks Chaya properly and give her medicine and telling her not to think too much, and takes food regularly.
After returning home Chaya insist Amit to go to Suman's house. So both of them go to their sons house.
When they reach Suman’s house it was night and a party is going on . Mamta opened the door and after seeing them abused them in front of all the guest. Everyday asking her “Who are they,”. Mamta replied” They are their servants”. Amit and Chaya look at Suman’s face. Suman does not answered any thing.
So they returned from their son’s house.
Suddenly bus conductor call Amit to sit-down inside the bus as the bus is about to leave .
Both of them go inside the bus. At 2pm in the night Amit and Chaya reach their own house in Kamalpur. Chaya already sleeping inside the bus. Amit is just any how manage her to carry inside the home.
Whole night Amit never sleep. Amit recalls everything about Chaya’s sacrifice as a mother and as his wife.
Amit repents himself very much because he can't give his wife Chaya a happy life after marriage.
In the morning when Chaya does not waking up Amit push her "Chaya , Chaya ", but Chaya never wake up. Amit runs from the house and call doctor . Doctor's come check her, and speak Admit that everything already finished.
She died at night during sleeping, a happy death, no too much pain.
Amit started crying, Villagers start telling Amit that call Suman for his mother final ceremony. Amit don't agree and speaks to them , Suman was their “ Step Son”
Amit finish her wife’s ceremony alone.
